Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2002 opens in Courchevel (FRA)

The Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series opens its sixth season with the event starting in Courchevel (FRA) today and running until Sunday, August 25, 2002.

The full list of entries is attached and final results of the competition are directly available from the ISU internet site on http://ww2.isu.org/figure/events/0203/jgp0203details.html. This season 50 ISU Members have announced their participation in the Junior Grand Prix series.

A total of 59 junior skaters from 15 Member Federations are competing in Courchevel, which is the first of the eight qualifying events for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating, each organized by different ISU Members across the world.

4th event	Montreal, Canada		September 26-29, 2002
5th event	Bratislava, Slovak Republic	October 3-6, 2002
6th event	Chemnitz, Germany		October 10-13, 2002
7th event	Beijing, China			October 17-20, 2002
8th event	Milan, Italy			October 30-November 3, 2002
Final		The Hague, Netherlands		December 12-15, 2002

At each of the eight events, the top skaters are awarded points and prize money provided by the ISU. The top 8 Men, Ladies, Pairs and Dance Couples in the overall standings will qualify to compete at the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in The Hague, Netherlands on December 12-15, 2002. The total prize money, amounting to US$105'000 for the Junior Grand Prix Final, will be awarded to the top six athletes and couples in each category.

The global prize money per individual qualifying event is US$22'500 awarded to each medal winner for each category as follows:
