Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating, Salchow Trophy, Malmö (SWE)

The fifth qualifying event of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, the Salchow Trophy, is taking place in Malmö (SWE) until November 4, 2001. The full list of entries is attached and final and immediate results of the competition are available directly from the ISU Internet site on ww2.isu.org.

A total of 66 entries from 24 ISU Member Federations are competing in Malmö. Three of the skaters in the Ladies event already have 15 points each, after winning the gold medal at previous Junior Grand Prix events during the season: Irina Tkatchuk (RUS) and Japan's Miki Ando and Yukina Ota. They will be challenged by Tatiana Basova (RUS), who has 13 points after winning a silver medal in the Junior Grand Prix event that was held in the Czech Republic four weeks ago. Leading the Men's field in Malmö and looking to secure their place on the podium, are Russia's Andrei Griazev and Damien Djordievic of France. Each skater won the gold and the bronze medals, respectively, in the Czech Republic. They are joined by Sergei Dobrin (RUS), who last season's silver medallist at the Junior Grand Prix Final. Russian pairs, Maria Mukhortova/Pavel Lebedev, and Anastasia Kuznina/Stanislav Evdokimov, who won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the Czech Republic are meeting again in Malmö. In the Ice Dance event, Elena Romanovskya/Alexander Grachev of Russia arrive in Sweden fresh from their victory in the Netherlands last weekend. However, the Russian couple will face strong competition from sister and brother, Christina Beier/ William Beier (GER), who won the bronze medal in Gadsnk (POL) three weeks ago.
