DEDUCTIONS TO BE APPLIED FOR ICE DANCING (Comm. 1026)
(From July 1, 1999 onwards)


1. DEDUCTIONS IN CASE OF STUMBLE, FALL AND INTERRUPTION (RULE 538)

The following are the guidelines for deductions for Judges to apply in case of stumble, fall or interruption:

A. COMPULSORY DANCES

a) The following deductions shall be applied in the case of a Stumble or Fall in any part of a Compulsory Dance:

		Stumble or brief interruption				         0.1
		Fall of one partner    (small - down & up)		         0.2
		Fall of both partners (small - down & up)		         0.3

b) The following deductions shall be applied when the performance has been interrupted by a stumble or fall and part of a sequence was omitted:

c) Deduction for repeating steps missed by stumble, fall or interruption : 0.1

Note: Deduction should be made in the first mark only unless it affects the timing or expression, in which case it may also be reflected in the second mark.

B. ORIGINAL DANCE AND FREE DANCE

a) The following deductions should be applied when a Stumble or Fall occurred in any part of the program, including the Required Elements:

			Stumble or brief interruption			 0.1
			Fall of one partner				 0.2
			Fall of both partners				 0.3

b) The following deductions should be applied when the performance has been interrupted by Stumble or Fall and a part of the program was omitted:

			Medium				Large
		       	6 - 15 seconds	    		15 + seconds
		        0.4-1.0			 	1.1-1.5

Note: Deduction should be made in the first mark only unless it affects the presentation in which case it may also be reflected in the second mark.



2. DEDUCTIONS FOR REQUIRED ELEMENTS ORIGINAL DANCE AND FREE DANCE

The following are the deductions (to be taken from the first mark) by Judges for violations pertaining to the required elements in Original Dance and Free Dance.

For further details refer to current Special Regulations for Ice Dancing and current Communications.

3. OTHER DEDUCTIONS

A. ORIGINAL DANCE

Under Mark for Composition:

Violations of  technical restrictions (other than required elements above) 
per violation 0.1 Lack of cleanness, sureness and skating on edges 0.1 - 0.4

Under mark for the Presentation

Incorrect or inappropriate selection of music					0.1 - 0.4
Skating out of time  (maximum for whole performance out of  time) 		0.1 - 1.0
Skating on "weak beat" (maximum for whole performance on "weak beat")		0.1 - 0.5
Lack of expression								0.1 - 0.4
Inappropriate costume 								0.1

B. FREE DANCE

Under Mark for Technical Merit

Violations of  technical restrictions (other than required elements above) 

per violation 0.1 Lack of cleanness, sureness and skating on edges 0.1 - 0.4 Overall predominance of pair skating moves (elements) and or positions 0.1 - 0.4

Under mark for the Presentation

Incorrect music									0.1 - 0.4
Incorrect timing (maximum for whole performance out of time) 			0.1 - 1.0
Skating on "weak beat" (maximum for whole performance on "weak beat")		0.1 - 0.5
Incorrect Interpretations							0.1 - 0.4
Poor style and unison								0.1 - 0.4
Unsuitable choreography								0.1 - 0.4
