MEDIA ADVISORY
The 49th ISU Ordinary Congress will take place from 3-7 June 2002 at the Miyako Hotel, Kyoto, Japan. Delegates from the ISU's Member Federations will consider proposals for modifications to regulations for Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Short Track Speed Skating and Synchronized Skating.
Elections will be held for the positions of ISU President, 2 Vice Presidents, 8 Council Members (4 Figure Skating and 4 Speed Skating), 5 Technical Committees (each with 5 members), and for the Appeals Commission (5 members).
The Congress is open only to ISU Members and Officers, in accordance with ISU rules, but media representatives may follow sessions via a closed circuit television link with telecast strictly limited to monitors at the Miyako Hotel.
PRESS CONFERENCE
The ISU President will host a concluding press conference to announce decisions of the Congress and to take questions on Friday 7 June at approximately 1800 local time at the Miyako Hotel.
If media would like to send a representative to the press conference please inform the ISU by e-mail or fax (see below) so that we can estimate the likely attendance. Formal accreditation applications are not necessary but valid press credentials will need to be shown.
Daily updates on proceedings will be given in the evening of 3, 4 and 6 June at the Miyako Hotel.
A number of rooms have been reserved for media representatives at the New Miyako Hotel. Single rooms cost approximately $100 US and double rooms $120 US per night.
