| The 49th ISU Ordinary Congress: Day 3 |
On day three of the 49th ISU Ordinary Congress the Figure Skating Section received presentations from the United States Figure Skating Association, Ice Skating Australia, Skate Canada and the International Skating Union on proposed new Judging Systems. Further debate and voting on the proposals is expected to take place on 6 June.
The Speed Skating Section agreed a number of Rule changes, including:
World Championships Single Distances (Rule 201)
The 3 day program will be substantially revised and the Organizing Committee will now have the option of holding the Championship over 4 days.
Safety Measures (Rule 206)
Substantial improvements have been approved to safety measures, including the increased use of protection mats.
Participation in all Distances (Rule 261)
In ISU all-round, Sprint Championships and the 500m races at the Olympic Winter Games, skaters may not enter remaining race(s) if they fail to complete any preceding race.
500m World Record (Rule 273)
There will be official recognition of the World Record for the combined time for 2 x 500m races as well as the individual 500m race.
