The 49th ISU Ordinary Congress: Day 2

The 49th ISU Ordinary Congress continued on 4 June with discussion of General Regulations.

The Congress agreed to adopt the general principles of the Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code (Medical Code). President Cinquanta stressed that the ISU was a leading international federation in the field of blood testing.

In the afternoon the Congress divided into the Figure Skating and Speed Skating Sections to debate Special Regulations.

The Figure Skating Section, chaired by Vice President Katsuichiro Hisanaga, will receive presentations on proposals for new Judging Systems on Wednesday 5 June.

A change was agreed to Rule 321 concerning the carry lift in Pairs Skating. Any kind of hold, including unrestricted holds, will now be allowed in the carry lift.

An amendment made to Rule 217 regarding dress for ladies in Figure Skating specifies:

"The ladies dress must not give the effect of excessive nudity inappropriate for an athletic sport."

The Speed Skating Section, chaired by Vice President Gerhard Zimmermann, debated proposals to permit or require the Referee in Short Track Speed Skating to consult video evidence immediately after a protest concerning the result of a race. Members were enthusiastic about the potential benefits of a video replay system for Short Track Speed Skating and agreed to continue discussions on 5 June.
