Communication No. 1188: Decisions of the ISU Council

The ISU Council held meetings on October 11-13, 2002 in Geneva, Switzerland. The following decisions were taken during this meeting (this Communication does not include items that have been dealt with in previous, separate Communications):

1. Allotment of ISU Championships 

In accordance with Rule 127 of the ISU Regulations the Council provisionally allotted 
the following Championship for 2005:

	World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships, March 5-6, 2005 
	Korea Skating Union: Chuncheon/Korea


2. ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2003/4

The Council decided that the 2003/4 Junior Grand Prix events will be held as follows:

3. Coaches Commission

The Council decided to appoint Mr. Oleg Vasiliev and Mr. Ki-Hoon Kim to the Coaches 
Commission. The composition of the ISU Coaches Commission is therefore as follows:

4. Composition of Development Commission and administrative follow-up

The Council confirmed the continuation of the ISU Development Program basically in line 
with previous ISU Communications Nos. 1017, 1085 and 1126. The Coordinator of the 
Commission will be György Sallak. 

The day-to-day activity of the Development Program will be overseen by the two ISU 
Vice Presidents while the ISU President will supervise compliance with the overall 
policy decided by the Council. The administrative procedures and controls are under 
the supervision of the ISU General Secretary.


5. ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Management Commission

The Council decided to appoint Ms. So-Hee Kim to the Management Commission in place 
of Jun-Ho Lee. The composition of the Management Commission is therefore as follows:

6. Composition of Skaters' Representatives

The Council decided to appoint Magnus Enfeldt and Mathieu Turcotte as Skaters'

The Council decided to accept the applications of the following to be reinstated

8. Recognition of new World Records Speed Skating

Upon the recommendation of the Speed Skating Technical Committee, based on the 
decisions of the 2002 Congress, the Council has recognized the following World 
records:

9. Restructuring Commission

The Council, following the decision of the ISU Congress, discussed in detail the 
role and formation of the Restructuring Commission. More details, including 
information about the individuals involved, will be published in a separate 
communication as soon as the composition of the Commission has been finalized. 
The mission of the Commission is to review the fundamental structure and 
administration of the ISU, legal aspects, including ethical violations and ISU 
regulations, relations between decision-making and advisory bodies and other 
areas as appropriate, and report back with proposals for restructuring to the 
Congress in 2004. 


10. Venue and date of June 2003 Council meeting and Office Holders Conference 
and date and place of Autumn 2003 Council meeting

The Council agreed that the June 2003 Council meeting and Office Holders Conference 
will take place on June 1-4, 2003 (arrival May 31, departure June 5). 
The venue is to be confirmed.

The Autumn 2003 Council meeting will take place in Geneva on November 7-9, 2003.
