Communication No. 1152: Synchronized Skating

1. Coaches Seminar in conjunction with the World Synchronized Skating Championships:

Rouen, France, April 9, 2002
from 18:00 to 21:00 (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.)

to be held at the official Competition Venue, the Ice Rink Ile Lacroix, Rouen, France.

The topic of the Seminar will be a presentation of the Dance Lifts allowed in Synchronized Skating as proposed for the Congress in Kyoto

Entries:

All registered Coaches of participating teams in the 2002 World Synchronized Skating Championships may attend. The Seminar will be conducted in English.

Expenses:

  1. No travel expenses and no living expenses will be paid for the participants.
  2. All administrative expenses and expenses of the Moderator will be borne by the ISU.

2. Intermediate Coaches Seminar:

Göteborg - Kungälv, Sweden
June 28 - July 1, 2002

The Seminar will be conducted in English by the Synchronized Skating member of the ISU Coaches Commission assisted by other Coaches working in the relevant sub-commission and in conjunction with the Synchronized Skating Technical Committee.

Topics will include basic skating skills, skill analysis and corrections, stroking exercises and patterns, choreography, costuming and make-up as well as effective management skills / leadership skills, mental preparation, doping issues, planning and implementation of a club program.

Coaches must bring their skates and be prepared for an extensive on-ice workshop.

Entries:

Due to the limited number of places only one Coach per ISU Member will be accepted.

Additional Coaches may be accepted should the numbers permit. The Synchronized Skating Technical Committee will make the final selection from the applications submitted by the Members.

Members wishing to nominate a Coach(es) to participate in the Seminar must send the name of the participating Coach(es) to the ISU Secretariat, to the attention of Patricia Mayor, with a copy to the Chairperson of the Synchronized Skating Technical Committee not later than May 10, 2002.

Applications should include the following information:

Expenses

a) The ISU will pay a travel contribution for each participating Coach, subject to submission of actual ticket receipts, to a maximum of 800 SFr per participant for representatives of European countries and 1000 SFr per participant for representatives from North America, Asia and Oceanic regions.

b) The living expenses (room and meals) of the participants will be borne by the ISU for the period from dinner on Friday June 28, 2002 to breakfast on Monday July 1, 2002.

c) All administrative expenses, including cost of ice time and transportation to the rink will be covered by the ISU.

Confirmation:

Confirmation of acceptance of the application and additional information will be sent to the Member and the Coach concerned by the ISU Secretariat after the closing date of applications - May 10, 2002.
