Communication No. 1118: Exception to Rule 109, paragraph 6, for Synchronized Skating until 30 June 2002

The ISU Council at its meeting held in Lausanne on June 14, 2001 has granted, in accordance with Rule 109, paragraph 6, the following exception to Rule 109, paragraph 2:

In Synchronized Skating, skaters representing a Member of a country, of which they are not a citizen, do not have to reside in such country. This applies, in accordance to Rule 109, para 2 d), to a maximum of 25% of a team and all other requirements stated in the Rule remain unchanged. This exception shall expire on June 30, 2002.

The Council has granted the above exception upon the recommendation of the Synchronized Skating Technical Committee and with the purpose of not jeopardizing the existence and possibility of competing of some currently existing teams. The duration of the exception will make it possible for the 2002 ISU Congress to amend or change the Rule should the Congress so desire.
