| Communication No. 1116: Decisions of the ISU Council |
The ISU Council held a meeting on April 5-6, 2001 in Helsinki, Finland. The following decisions were taken during this meeting (this Communication does not include items that have been dealt with in previous, separate Communications):
1. Changes of venue or dates of provisionally allotted ISU Championships
a) Change of venue of World Figure Skating Championships, Nagano
The Council agreed to the change of venue of the World Figure Skating Championships 2002 from the Big Hat to the M-Wave stadium in Nagano.
b) Final dates of 2002 World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships, Milwaukee, March 29/30 (instead of March 30/31 to avoid Easter Sunday)
The Council agreed to amend the dates of the 2002 World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships to March 29-30, 2002 (Friday/Saturday).
2. ISU Essent Speed Skating World Cup 2001/02
The events of the ISU Essent Speed Skating World Cup will be held as follows:
November 10-11, 2001 Berlin, Germany
November 17-18, 2001 Innsbruck, Austria
November 23-25, 2001 The Hague, Netherlands
December 1-2, 2001 Salt Lake City, USA
December 8-9, 2001 Calgary, Canada
January 11-13, 2002 Heerenveen, Netherlands
March 2-3, 2002 Oslo, Norway
March 8-10, 2002 Inzell, Germany

3. Prize Money for single distances at World Short Track Speed Skating Championships
Based on the decision of the 2000 Congress to award single distance titles to the winners of the final races over 500, 1000, and 1500 meters at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, the Council decided that the following prize money for Ladies and Men will be awarded to the first four ranked skaters in these distances. This was first effective during the 2000/01 season.

3rd place US$ 1'200
4th place US$ 1'000
4. Nomination for Georg Häsler medal
The ISU Council decided to award the Georg Häsler Medal to:
The Georg Häsler Medal is awarded in memory of Mr. Georg Häsler, who served the ISU as Honorary Secretary for 29 years from 1947 to 1975.

5. Trainee ISU Technical Delegates for ISU Figure Skating Championships
The Council approved the following nominated individuals as trainee Technical Delegates: Charles Cyr (USA), William Fitzpatrick (USA), Carol Hopper (CAN), Hélène Petit (FRA), Helen Poole (GBR), Sally Rehorick (CAN) and Joanne Shaw (CAN, for Synchronized Skating).
6. Georgian Figure Skating Association
The Council acknowledged the change of name of the Figure Skating National Federation of Georgia to Georgian Figure Skating Association.
7. UN General Assembly: International Year of Volunteers
The Council expressed the support of the ISU for the International Year of Volunteers and joins the IOC in hoping that Members will find ways of recognizing and celebrating the volunteers who dedicate so much of their time and energies to the ISU disciplines.
8. Date of Olympic Qualifying Competition for Short Track Speed Skating
As previously announced to Members and ISU Office Holders, it is confirmed that the date of the Olympic Qualifying competition for Short Track Speed Skating in Salt Lake City will be October 25-28, 2001, not 2002, as originally printed in Communication 1106.
