ISU Regional Ice Dance Coaches Seminar - Asia

The ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee in cooperation with the ISU Coaches Commission and supported by the ISU Development Commission will be holding a Seminar for Ice Dance Coaches in the Asian Region in:

Tokyo, Japan from May 16 to 20, 2001

Providing sufficient applications are received.

GOAL:

The Ice Dance Technical Committee hopes to increase the knowledge of coaches with a view to developing dancers in Asia who have a sound foundation in Ice Dance.

PROGRAM:

 
The Seminar will cover the following topics:
      ·       on-ice instruction on base level techniques
      ·       the junior and senior compulsory dances (season 2001/2002)
      ·       choreographic principles for original dance and free dance
      ·       interpretation of rules and required elements

PARTICIPANTS:

Applications for coaches to attend will be accepted on a “first-come-first served” basis. Preference will be given to coaches from the Asian Region:

AUS, CHN, TPE, PRK, HKG, JPN, KAZ, MGL, NZL, KOR, RSA, THA, UZB.

Three coaches from each Asian Member will be accepted up to a limit of 30, but more coaches per Member may be admitted should numbers permit.

EXPENSES:

The ISU will support coaches in the following way:

1. The ISU will pay the living expenses (room and meals) for up to 30 participating coaches for the period from dinner on May 16th to lunch on May 20th. Transportation to and from the airport in Tokyo to the hotel will be provided along with transportation between the arena and the hotel.

2. There will be no charge for the seminar.

3. If the total number of participating coaches is less than 30, the ISU will also pay the above mentioned expenses for additional coaches from the same Member with first priority being given according to the date on which the application is received at the ISU Secretariat.

Travel expenses to and from Tokyo shall be borne by the Member or the coach concerned.

ARRIVAL OF PARTICIPANTS:

The Seminar will commence with an opening reception and dinner at 18:00 hours on May 16th at the Capitol Tokyo Hotel and room reservations for attendees will be made at that hotel.

CONCLUSION OF SEMINAR:

The Seminar will conclude at 12:00 hours on Sunday, May 20th. All coaches attending are expected to attend for the full duration of the seminar.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND DEADLINE:

Applications from the Member, or individual coach, should be sent by post, email or fax to the ISU Secretariat, at the latest by April 16, attention Ms. Patricia Mayor. Copies of these applications will be sent by the ISU Secretariat to the Japan Skating Federation, the Ice Dance Technical Committee and to Ms. Kristina Regöczy.

Applications should include the following information:
      ·       Name, address, telephone and fax number or e-mail of the applicant
      ·       Name of Member country in which Coach is currently teaching
      ·       Brief history of coaching experience, including listing of level of pupils (national, international)

CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION:

The ISU Secretariat will send a letter of confirmation to the Member and the coaches whose applications have been accepted after the closing date for applications, which is April 16, 2001, in order for the coaches to make travel arrangements to and from Tokyo.

A detailed schedule for the seminar and information about accommodation and travel within Tokyo will be provided with the confirmation of acceptance of the application.

The ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee and Coaches Commission would be grateful if Members recommend this seminar to their Coaches in the interest of making this first Regional Coaches Seminar in the Asian Region a great success in the furtherance of Ice Dancing in the Asian Region.
