Communication 1042
|
In accordance with the usual procedure following the Senior International Ice Dance Competition at the Nebelhorn Trophy and after discussion with coaches, judges and skaters, the ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee makes the following clarifications to the published Rules:
A. Compulsory Dances
Yankee Polka - "High Kilian" Section (Steps 3 to 12)
To reflect common practice, the following clarification should be made:
Description p. 76 - 2nd paragraph:
Chart p. 78 - first column, Position steps 3 - 12
B. Latin Combination Original Dance, Season 1999/2000
Diagonal Step Sequence or Straight Line Step Sequence
(see Communication No. 1022, p. 2 Required Elements iii) )
During this step sequence, the partners must not touch each other, but the distance between the partners must not be more than two arms-length apart.
It is further brought to the skaters' attention that this step sequence must incorporate difficult mirror and/or matching footwork. This means that both partners should skate similar steps and movements. Both partners may cross each other's tracing(s), may switch from matching footwork to mirror or vice versa, and may skate side by side and/or one following the other. The execution of the steps should not resemble that of 2 solo skaters but have good unison and the appearance and relationship of a dance couple.
Re. Communication No. 1026, page 4 - "Deductions to be Applied for Ice Dancing, para 2:
The deductions listed for synchronized twizzles apply to the Free Dance only. When judging the Original Dance Step Sequence (Diagonal/Straight Line), the deductions for the synchronized twizzles should be made using the "incorrect footwork/element" deduction.
C. Free Dance (Communication No. 1022, p. 3 - Required Elements)
Re. Specified Non- Rotational Lift - Senior only.
The non-rotational lift should consist of curves which are approximately similar in duration and curvature; i.e. not one large curve followed by one very small one, or vice versa.
Re. Specified Dance Spins - Junior and Senior
Taking into consideration that during the Dance Spin the man should have a firm hold in the required Foxtrot position(s), the man's leading hand (the right hand) may either be placed on the woman's shoulder blade or waist.
