1. DEDUCTIONS TO BE APPLIED FOR ICE DANCING, FROM JULY 1, 1999 ONWARDS
2. CLARIFICATION ORIGINAL DANCE AND FREE DANCE 1999/2000
Having received queries during recent ISU Ice Dance Judges' Seminars, the IDTC makes the following clarifications:
Communication 1022 - Correction and Clarification
para 9: Correction: Original Dance - to section which starts:
" The following elements must be included - (corrections to sub para iii)"
Revise to read:
"(sub-paras i), ii) and iv) remain unchanged"
(The IDTC therefore clarifies that a Dance Spin must to be included as a REQUIRED ELEMENT in the Original Dance)
para 10.. Clarification: Required Elements Free Dance Season 1999/2000
Under "Lifts - Specified" - Revise to read:
Senior only: - Specified: a non-rotational lift skated on 2 different curves (in the same or opposing direction) by the lifting partner.
Clarification of "non rotational lift":
Lifting partner may be on one or both feet and traveling forward or backward or both (if the partner skates a turn between the curves/lobes).
The change of direction may incorporate a three turn, rocker, mohawk or similar turn (of not more than 1/2 rotation), but a turn is not required.
The lifted partner may be stationary or mobile during this movement."
3. TANGO
Tango Description page 107 and Chart page 108 of Special Regulation Ice Dancing 1998.
Couples do not need to be in Closed position/hold for the full 4 counts of steps 3, 6, 10, 13 and 22. Some couples change sides from Outside (Tango) to Outside (Tango) in the middle of these rolls and are often in Closed position/hold for fewer counts or even only briefly. Either technique/interpretation is acceptable.
4. REQUEST TO JUDGES
At Official Practices at ISU Championships or International Competitions, Judges of the Dance Event may not sit with coaches, especially those from their own Member country.
